Prewrite: Organize by Fixing Sentences
The Goal: Remember your brainstormed mind map and writing scaffold about roller coasters? Well, it's time to open it up again and apply what we have learned about sentence parts and types. You will use your knowledge to fix sentences in your writing scaffold. This will help you to further develop and organize your writing.
Remember our Essential Question? What makes an amusement park roller coaster such a big attraction?
You might have used this as your topic sentence: There are many things that make amusement park roller coasters a big attraction to park guests.
1. Open up your writing scaffold on roller coasters.
The name of your file should be " [My name] writing scaffold for roller coasters"
2. REVIEW the instructions on your document. You should have filled out the blank writing scaffold with information from your mind map on roller coasters.
3. Now, save a copy of the following check list to use as you go through your writing scaffold. Fix sentence parts and create a variety of sentence types in the scaffold. The more effort you put into this step, the easier (and faster) your rough draft will come together. Check off items as you go along.
4. When you have completed the checklist, save it and submit a shareable link to the checklist. Use the "type text" icon.
